Cleanup is where platinum runs usually break

Most players assume the hard part is the main game. In practice, the cleanup phase causes more abandoned hunts: scattered objectives, unclear priority, and endless context switching.

A better cleanup framework turns “random mop-up” into predictable progress.

Step 1: classify every remaining trophy

Before you play, classify leftovers into four buckets:

  • Fast wins (5–20 min)
  • Route-based (requires sequence/pathing)
  • Execution-based (skill challenge)
  • Grind/RNG (time sink)

This gives instant clarity on what should be done now versus later.

Step 2: run cleanup in three passes

Pass A — Fast wins first

Take all short trophies early. This creates visible momentum and lowers cognitive load.

Pass B — Route trophies second

Group by map/chapter/activity and complete in one efficient route. Do not bounce between unrelated objectives.

Pass C — Grind and hard execution last

Only after low-friction progress is done should you commit to heavy grind or repeated challenge attempts.

Step 3: use hard stop rules per session

Set a clear stop condition before each session:

  • “Finish two route trophies”
  • “Do three challenge attempts max”
  • “Farm for 45 minutes, then reassess”

Without stop rules, cleanup expands indefinitely and kills motivation.

Every repeated lookup costs time. Keep one active checklist tied to your hunt flow:

If remaining trophies are all in the same high-friction bucket (e.g., pure grind + online dependency), it can be smarter to pause and rotate to another game temporarily.

Strategic pause is not failure. It preserves completion velocity over the long term.

Final rule: cleanup should be engineered, not improvised

The best hunters don’t “try harder” in cleanup—they design the phase like a small project with priorities, passes, and limits.

Do that, and your final 20% becomes dramatically faster.
